This came up in the news today. President Obama said it's time to retire the penny.
I couldn't agree more.
Making a penny costs almost twice as much as its face value.
Besides, I rarely use cash anymore. If I do, I rarely use change of any sort. Most all of my change ends up at home in a jar. I hate carrying change. It makes it hard to sneak up on people when you have a pocket full of pennies.
Would rounding up prices to the nearest nickel really make a difference in an average family's life?
And the best part is no longer could stores try to fool us that something is cheaper than it really is...$2.99...oh, that's not $3 we think.
Yes it is.
For you naysayers, even if the government stopped making pennies today, most people's grandparents have enough in jars to keep us still using pennies for the next 100 years.
You know it's true.
