I have to write a bio for the radio station and need help.

What do you, as a listener, want to know about me?

I hate writing about myself, just don't know what is interesting.

Here's the rough draft:

Scot Young grew up under the shadow of Mt. Rushmore on a Polled Hereford ranch in South Dakota. Instead of doing his chores, he would pretend to do radio shows with his mom's tape recorder and dreamed of being a radio DJ.

As soon as Scot was old enough to get a job away from the ranch, he did. He was hired as DJ/Skateguard at a Roller Rink when he was 16. Scot's first radio job came two years later at a station in his hometown of Rapid City; it was on an automated country station. He babysat the computer and did local weather forecasts every hour. Even though it wasn't the radio career he had dreamed of, he didn't care. It was a start.

Since then, Scot has done worked in Omaha, NE, Fargo, ND, Portland, OR before moving to Salt Lake in 1999.

In Salt Lake, Scot has been on a number stations and has been known as Jonny Quest, Dexter, Cornbread Cody Allen and Maverick.

A bit of a musicologist, Scot is an expert and a fan of 70s, 80s, country, classic rock and contemporary music. Even though he really loves 70's music, the important thing for Scot is to be entertainting and interact with his listeners. Scot believes if he has fun on the radio, so will his listeners.

He went to Salt Lake Community College in 2007 and completed his bachelors of communication from the University of Utah in 2010. He also teaches the beginning and advanced radio broadcasting classes at Salt Lake Community College in addition to consulting the student radio station.
Scot lives in Sugar House with his wife, a viola player in the Utah Symphony, and their two Australian Shepherds Red and Brandy. They like to camp, hike, snowshoe.
