The longest married couple in the US just celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary!
John and Ann Betar of Connecticut weren’t even supposed to get married. Ann’s father had arranged for her to marry another man, but she took off with John and they eloped in New York. I love it! (CLICK HERE to see a pic)
They fell in love in high school when John used to drive Ann to school in his Ford Roadster. He’s 101 and she’s 97 and they have outlived 2 of their children. John says there are 3 keys to a healthy relationship:
- We just live with contentment
- We don't live beyond our means
- Just go with the flow
